The next Legend of Zelda game could be for your smartphone
After venturing into mobile games for the first time in 2016 with the successfulSuper Mario Run, Nintendo seems ready to add to its mobile lineup.
According to a new report by the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is making moves to create a mobile game based on it beloved Legend of Zelda. The company spent years (and several delays) building the most recent installment of the franchise,Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, forWii U and Switch. It features a sweeping open world filled with treasure, mini-games, bosses, and a rich story line.
Fans can expect the yet unannouncedZeldamobile game to be significantly stripped down and highly focused by comparison. Super Mario Run is a side-scrolling infinite runner that many fans were able to complete in just a few hours.
The Zelda gamepending any Nintendo reversals or delayswill likely follow the company’s Animal Crossing mobile game, which was set to debut in March of this year before being pushed back. Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima has said publicly that the company intends to launch as many as three mobile games before March 2018.
