‘Sega Forever’ turns your phone into a treasure trove of Sega classics

With shredding guitars and ’80s pomp, Sega heralds the genesis of Sega Forever, its new initiative to pump out classic Sega games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star, and Altered Beast for free on smartphones.

Starting tomorrow, classic Sega games will be popping up on the iOS app store and Google Play for free (with a $1.99 ad-free option), giving tons of time-honored games a new, easily accessible home. They’ll all be playable offline with built-in save functions and bluetooth controller support for more serious Sega fans.

Sega Forever is launching with fives game, but more games will be added every two weeks, all of them for free. They’ll come from a wide range of consoles, including the Sega Genesis, the Sega Dreamcast, and the Sega Master System.
